If I were to set-up a crowdsourced car insurance company would you be interested in joining? I appreciate how much money is required when starting a car insurance company but I seriously think that with a concentrated effort and a crowdsourced company then we could beat the large companies at there own game. The way I envisaged it working was that the idea attracts as many people as possible and each person pays a membership fee. In return for the fee the person gets a share in the company with certain voting rights. The share doesnt entitle you to free insurance, but seriously reduced in price. Insurance policies are only available to members, the main benefit being to keep insurance costs down people would hopefully be less likely to claim. Why won't my mom get me insurance?

I am a 17 year old and am getting a car in the summer because my brother is getting a new one and will hand me down his old one. Anyways, I dont want to wait until summer to drive since ill be 18 in 2 months and will be valid to get my license. So i am going to buy my own car off of craigslist for cheap like 700$ so i started to save up already with my own money..im not even going to ask my parents for money because i will save up with MY own money like from getting tips in cosmetology school. But even though im getting my own car my mother is refusing to get me insurance on the car or get the stickers or liscene plate or anything. Dont i get any credit for buying the car on my own? I would pay for my own insurance if i could.. i feel like its not fair every time i talk to my mom about it she just shuts me down saying youll drive in summer but im a senior in highschool i dont want to take the bus i want to drive like everyone else :(

I just received a letter from Capital One Auto Finance saying that my new insurance policy is inadequate. I upped the comprehensive and collision deductible from $500 to $2500, which saves me over $400 dollars a month. According to Capital One, this is too high and has to be lowered back down to $1000 or less.
